The benefits of GL OCM E – Curb Mount Electric Venting Glass Skylight
At the flick of a switch or the press of a button expel hot air build up, and airborne odours and pollutants improving your home’s interior environment, without relying exclusively on costly air conditioning.
Fresh Air Ventilation
- Improve the health of your home’s interior environment with the clarity and brightness of natural light and fresh air ventilation. Breathe in, and feel the revitalizing power of fresh air.
- Natural ventilation allows you to release toxic pollutants and odors, and moderate the temperature of your home by expelling hot air that may have accumulated.
- Open and close on-demand with the remote control system of your choice. Columbia offers 3 types of motor and remote control systems – choose the one you need based on your requirements.
3 Electric Motor and Remote Control Options Available
- Columbia provides three levels of electric motors and remote controls: VE-Standard, VE-Deluxe and VE-Elite. They are manufactured by Truth Hardware, which brings decades of experience to the design and manufacturing of their products.
- Choose the type of motor and remote you want based on your needs.
Economical and Adds Value
- Columbia Curb Mount skylights are manufactured in Canada using materials from across North America, making them less costly compared to foreign products.
- Skylights add to the value of your home as it is highly desirable to bring natural light and fresh air into your home.
- Today’s ENERGY STAR® certified skylights save you money compared to older models, and provide more comfort.
The Benefit of Natural Light
- Living in the north we all need more natural daylight in our homes, particularly during the winter months when days are shorter, there are fewer hours of sunlight, and the sun is at a lower angle than during the summer.
- Natural light has been proven to increase happiness and productivity.
- Increasing the amount of natural light in your home offsets the impact of Seasonal Affective Disorder, which affects many people in the winter when they do not receive enough sunlight.
- Natural light has been shown to lower the risk of nearsightedness in children and young adults by helping the eye produce dopamine, which aids in healthy eye development.
Efficient ENERGY STAR® Low-E3 366 Triple Glazing with Argon Gas
- For maximum energy efficiency select from Columbia’s wide range of ENERGY STAR® LoE3 366 with advanced triple LoE coated glazing options – triple glazed. All options are available with laminated inner lite.
- The space between the glass panes is filled with argon gas, a natural, non toxic, high performance insulator.
- Because argon is denser than air it is superior at insulating your home than a conventional double pane skylight. It reduces cold or hot temperatures from transmitting through the glazing unit.
The Proven Engineering of Columbia Venting Frame
- Aluminum Exterior Frame
- Standard exterior aluminum frame with brown baked enamel finish. Black, Grey, White or Sandalwood aluminum frame available on all models. Mill finish, clear anodized or custom colour aluminum frame available.

Superior Sound Reduction
Reduces the effects of sound by up to 30% compared to standard double pane glass, and up to 50% less than a acrylic dome skylight.
Bring natural light in without additional noise such as traffic or planes.
Additional Security
Laminated glass is far harder to break and penetrate than traditional glass.
So, if you are concerned about security it is worth considering. The innermost interlayer holds the glass together in case of breakage.

Laminated glass lets the light in but protects your home from UV rays. The ideal choice to prevent fading of your floors, furniture and artwork.

Why Columbia
Canadian made skylights, designed for our harsh climate
Columbia skylights are specifically designed for life in our Canadian climate. Whether subjected to snow, ice, wind, hail, or intense heat, our products are engineered to outperform these demanding conditions.
Many imported skylights are designed for a more temperate climate and lack the performance and durability. Columbia has spent many decades manufacturing premium quality skylights that have stood up to the test of time in our Canadian climate.
Every aspect of the skylight has been studied, engineered, and tested.
Columbia utilizes the best materials available, including the latest glass technology.
Energy efficiency is a concern for Canadian homeowners because of our extreme climate. Columbia is the only Canadian manufacturer to offer Triple Glazing on all our skylight models, fixed and venting. We offer more ENERGY STAR® glass options than any other manufacturer.
