- In collaboration with our glass supplier Cardinal, Columbia selected the two highest performance glass products for our ENERGY STAR® Canada certified triple glazed skylights.
- Columbia uses a wide range of other Cardinal glass for less demanding applications, but only the double glazed Energy Plus LoE3 i89 and triple glazed LoE3 366 (temp/temp/temp & temp/temp/laminated) are utilized in our ENERGY STAR Canada skylights.

Cardinal LoE3 366® glass is the ultimate performance glass, designed for fluctuations in hot and cold temperatures, such as we experience in our northern climate. It is the ideal choice for Canada’s extreme climate.
LoE3 366 delivers the ideal balance of outstanding solar control and high visibility. It provides the highest levels of year round comfort and energy savings.
Cardinal’s triple layer LoE coating blocks solar gain, reflects heat, and it lets light in. On tempered glass the coating is on the interior and exterior pane (see diagram below).
Other skylight manufacturers only have one surface with LoE3 366 coating, Columbia has two surfaces.

The laminated version of Cardinal LoE3 366® glass delivers the features of the tempered option while providing additional security.
The laminated glass is bonded together with a layer of PVB (Polyvinyl Butyral) that stops the glass from shattering if it is impacted, such as from a broken tree branch. Making it had to penetrate and eliminating the danger of falling shards of broken glass.
