We are a Canadian company with strong ties to the communities where we are located. Working and living in the same community has established a strong bond and sense of responsibility, and it is important to us to give back, supporting local causes and charities.
Since 1955 it has been part of our company culture to give back, every year we give to a number of recognized charities.
We believe that by making our community stronger we will in turn benefit as our employees help to make our business grow and prosper.

OTHER EXAMPLES OF HOW COLUMBIA HELPS THE COMMUNITY
Columbia is a proud sponsor of HeroWork Canada – a charity renovating buildings serving our society, especially facilities that support our most in need. Bringing a little light into someone’s day will always make it brighter.
HeroWork Victoria has completed more than fifteen Radical Renovations for South Island Charities providing millions of dollars in transformational improvements.
Many charity buildings and infrastructure are in poor condition, inhibiting non-profits’ ability to deliver important social services, to be innovative, and respond to changing needs.
However, for decades the importance of charity buildings has been largely ignored, even though these places are where many of our most important social services are provided. They are our food banks, our community halls, our shelters, our counselling centres, our community kitchens.
Columbia is delighted to be part of this University of British Columbia’s Third Quadrant Design initiative, pioneering the use of Passive House construction technology. We supplied ENERGY STAR® certified venting skylights, electrically operated, with triple glazed tempered/laminated glass. Reducing the use of electric power by providing abundant natural daylight. The venting skylights provide cooling during the summer, and releases airborne contaminates such as dust and odour.
Third Quadrant Design is UBC’s first green building design team founded by 3 female engineering students.
Third Quadrant Design’s mission: To promote regenerative design practices and share green building knowledge on campus through the formation of an interdisciplinary student group.

Columbia contributes to the Union Gospel Mission, an organization that takes direct action against addiction and homelessness across the Lower Mainland. The UGM provides a warm meal, and a sanctuary where the conversation that leads to recovery can begin.
The need to support organizations like the UGM has never been greater as the opioid crisis ravages communities across Canada, and Columbia is proud to do its part.
