Glazing Options

Columbia will manufacture any size skylight in any of the following glazing options as well as any other available glass or acrylic types.

GLASS

LoE³-366 CLEAR
• Ideal balance of solar control and visible light transmission.
• Provides the highest levels of year-round comfort and energy savings.
• Coated with microscopically thin, optically transparent layers of silver sandwiched between layers of anti-reflective metal oxide coatings.
• The LoE³-366® coating is virtually invisible, still allowing 65% of visible light through.
• Blocks 95% of the sun’s damaging ultraviolet rays (a leading cause of fading), helping to protect your furniture, carpets and curtains.
• Provides at least twice the condensation resistance of ordinary glass.

LoE³-366 NEAT
• Naturally clean glass that harnesses the sun’s UV rays to loosen dirt so water can rinse it away, leaving windows virtually spotless.
• The titanium dioxide layer of Neat glass reacts chemically with the sun’s UV rays and causes organic materials that are on the glass to decompose.
• Exceptionally smooth, allowing water to disperse evenly or “sheet off” and evaporate quickly.
• Works even on cloudy days, as 80% of UV radiation gets through cloud cover.

LoE³-i81
• All the benefits of LoE³ Clear, plus an additional LoE³-i81 coating on the inside pane of glass which gives you close to triple pane performance in a double skylight.
• LoE³-i81 in combination with LoE³-366® is virtually invisible, allowing 58% of visible light through.
• Provides optimum thermal control for your skylight at an affordable price.

LoE³-366 TRIPLE GLAZED
• Combines three glazing layers and two LoE³-366® coatings to create the most energy efficient option.
• 48% visible light transmission and the best performance against solar heat gain and heat loss.
• Ideal for the Prairies, Northern Ontario, Quebec and colder climates.

LoE³-366 BRONZE
• Reduction in visible light transmission and solar heat gain.
• Helps reduce glare.
• Ideal for rooms that are south facing or require a softer light.

SOLAR REFLECTIVE BRONZE
A mirror finish that reflects the sun, resulting in less visible light and less solar heat gain than a simple bronze tint. The mirror finish offers daytime privacy

HEAT MIRROR 44
• A clear colourless film is suspended between the two panes of glass which divides the airspace into two smaller compartments, providing additional insulation and thermal performance.
• Blocks over 99.5% of ultraviolet rays which cause fading to furniture and finishes.
• 50% better in reducing outside noise versus a standard double glazed unit.
• Superior condensation control, particularly beneficial in high humidity environments of kitchens and bathrooms.

TEMPERED GLASS
• All skylight units include both panes tempered which is up to five times stronger than ordinary glass.
• Ensures protection against hail and windblown debris.

LAMINATED GLASS
• Produced by permanently bonding two pieces of glass to tough plastic interlayer under heat and pressure.
• The sandwich behaves as a single piece, and is same in appearance as plain glass.
• Use laminated pane of glass for additional safety, as glass fragments adhere to plastic interlayer when broken.
• Blocks 99% of ultraviolet rays.
• Effective in reducing noise transmission and fading.
• Available in clear or white interlayer. White will offer privacy, reduced visible light and solar heat gain.

ACRYLIC
CLEAR:
Allows maximum amount of visible light.
BRONZE: Allows a clear view through the skylight while reducing the amount of visible light and solar heat gain. Results in softer room lighting.
WHITE:
Offers privacy along with reduced visible light and solar heat gain

POLYCARBONATE
• A tough plastic that exhibits outstanding strength
• Often used in commercial applications where low flame spread ratings are required.
