BLACK FRAMES: MORE SIZES, MORE MODELS, STANDARD & CUSTOM

Black has now surpassed brown as the most popular frame colour in modern home design. Black and dark grey shingles and metal roofs are in vogue, and homeowners and architects are looking for a skylight that visually integrates with the roof material.

Columbia has manufactured black skylights for more than 20 years using our ultra durable Colour Lock Technology, a fade resistant, scratch-resistant baked enamel paint system. To complete the visual harmony, Columbia offers a matching black aluminum flashing system.

Because we manufacture in Canada and our skylights don’t have to be imported — we can offer broad, flexible options tailored to Canadian homes and Canadian installers. As well as a better value for money. We manufacture the largest range of black frame sizes in Canada, accommodating most project needs or architectural designs.

•  Available on all 83 standard sizes

•  Available in any custom size

•  Available on fixed, venting, electric, manual, and the Roof Access Door model

•  Available on glass, acrylic dome, and pyramid units

WHY CHOOSE COLUMBIA BLACK FRAME SKYLIGHTS INSTEAD OF THE COMPETITION?

Superior Wet-Seal System — A Real Seal That Lasts

Columbia curb mount skylights recommends the use of a wet seal (such as Butyl tape), the same long lasting moisture/air barrier used in the window industry.

These products are malleable and highly adhesive, filling imperfections in the wooden curb, creating a true air and water tight seal that can last for decades, flexing with fluctuations in heat and cold throughout the year. These adhesive sealant products are widely used in construction and the automotive industries because of their durability and long life.

Other systems can cause:

•  Moisture damage

•  Cold drafts

•  Mould growth

•  Lightwell staining

•  Structural wood
framing rot

Installers trust Columbia because our wet seal system maintains its seal for decades and allows the installer to adjust to the needs of the specific project.

Stronger, Thicker Aluminum Frames

Columbia skylights use thicker, higher grade aluminum than similar products. Our corner angle two-tier frame design resists crushing or denting, reinforced at the corner for additional strength. Combined with our multi chamber PVC interior frame that provides additional insulation, this creates:

•  Exceptional rigidity

•  A longer lasting
curb seal

•  Improved energy
performance

•  Reduced flex during
installation (which
can cause
damage to gaskets)

Designed for the Extreme Canadian Climate

Columbia skylights are engineered specifically for Canada.

Don’t compromise and get a skylight designed for a milder climate.

Our two part frame and ENERGY STAR® certified triple glazing are purpose-built for:

•  Maximum energy
efficency

•  Snow loads

•  Freezing
temperatures

•  Interior humidity

•  Wide seasonal
swings

They excel in warm climates too — but they’re built to thrive in Canadian winters.

MATCHING BLACK ALUMINUM FLASHING

Just like a high quality suit looks best with a matching jacket and pants, a black frame skylight looks best with a coordinated black aluminum flashing. Columbia offers a ready to use boxed flashing kit, pre-formed, and quick to install.
